How is everyone doing?

Any fun or exciting plans for the week?

Any thing you are dreading or looking forward to?

How is your 8/9 year old doing? Excited about the 4th?

Are you all enjoying summer?

How is everyone doing? We are doing fine. Though I am exhausted since I have been up since 4am with Lindsay. She had a nightmare and would not talk about it for the longest time but she also wouldn't go back to sleep. Finally got her to talk about it, calmed her down, got her to understand that what she dreamed about isn't a big deal (the water not turning off in the bathroom), that if mommy and daddy can't fix it ourselves we'd call in the plumber. She is back in bed now and I'm up for the day.

Any fun or exciting plans for the week? Philip has summer school during the week. We have swimming on Wednesday. He'll be meeting up with a couple of friends. We have a weekly play date with one of his friends which is good for the two of them. Its good for me too because Lindsay gets invited to hang out with Philip's friend's little sister.

Any thing you are dreading or looking forward to? too much down time. It means the kids start fighting over silly stuff.

How is your 8/9 year old doing? He is doing good. He is enjoying his summer even with summer school. Which thankfully he is loving. He loves the cooking class. He has a good friend in his mysteries, reading and writing class. Then two of his buddies from school are in his Creative Writing class. The school he goes to has a buddy system. Kids from an upper grade are paired with younger kids. So he has his buddy from 1st grade and his buddy from 2nd grade (both are going into 5th next year) in that class. He was so excited to find out they were taking the same class. 3rd-5th graders are grouped together for summer school. Third grade was his first year of being the older buddy and he loved being buddies with the two first graders he was paired with. It is cute (don't tell him I said that) seeing the kids greet their buddies on the play ground and around town. The older kids really seem to understand that the younger kids look up to them and will go out of the way to make sure they are the ones calling out the hellos first. If the younger kids are new to the school their buddies make sure they are included in games at recess and will look for them at assemblies and other school wide activites.

Excited about the 4th? Philip is excited. He has plans to do stuff with his dad that they are not sharing with me.

Are you all enjoying summer? I'm enjoying it. I could do without the fighting over silly little stuff the kids are doing but overall it has been a good one.

yeah! The first week of summer seems so sweet.

How much longer are you teaching classes again?

You are so brave and nice to sit through a teen's sales presentation.

I think Philip is a bit apprehensive about the 4th grade because he had such a great year in 3rd. It doesn't help that he won't be getting his favorite teacher unless some miracle happens and they give her back the 4th/5th combo class. He is worried he will get the teacher he doesn't know or the one he kind of knows but is his friend's mom. He said it would be weird to have her as his teacher.

Today Philip has a friend over after summer school. They are having a blast playing the Wii. We are also waiting for the pizza to arrive for lunch. Philip's friend hasn't been eating a lot lately and I decided to tempt him by ordering pizza.

Well, I teach on an ongoing basis, so over the next couple of weeks, I have 5 daytime classes scheduled and my regular once a weeknight class and when that's over, a new one starts the very next week.

I'm sure Philip will have a wonderful year in 4th grade. This year, the district switched policies and is not letting us know who our kids have as a teacher til the 3rd week in August.

We don't find out until the night before school starts. Though two of the K teachers were telling me that they are hoping to have a K "playdate" before the start of school. This is something they use to do along with sending a sweet welcome to my class letter to the incoming K students. They haven't been able to do it for the past few years and it has been really bugging them so they have been pushing the principal to approve the class lists (at least for K) in early August so they can start it up again.

Today (Wednesday) we have swimming in the afternoon.

Right now the kids have friends over for a playdate. The boy is good friends with Philip and his little sister gets along well with Lindsay.

I have a list of things to do but I can't do them with kids over. I'm only getting to play on the computer because they are all in the living room playing on the Wii. I can see and hear them but I was getting in there way so I thought it would be best to just leave them alone. The boys are being extremely nice to the girls, helping them out when they need it.

Wow, I think it would be terrible not to know who the teacher is or who is in their class til the night before.

It's aggravating. I remember knowing by the beginning of August. Even in high school we knew our schedules and who the teachers were a few weeks before because we went to orientation and had our id pictures taken. But even the school district my mom teaches in doesn't release the class list until the day before which is slightly better than the night before.

So did you find the car you want?
