I'm in need of some new ideas to spice up school lunches.
I learned on another board on iVillage that you can put sliced apples in 7UP to prevent them from turning brown, and it works! I was so excited to have another fruit I can put in them, and one that's available pretty cheap throughout the year. Do you have any good ideas like that you can share?

That is a cool tip! So you slice the apples, dip them in 7 UP and then refrigerate until they go into the lunch?
I learned just recently that even if bananas look brown and ugly on the outside, they're still super-sweet and good on the inside. So instead of throwing them away at that point, I've been slicing them up, putting them in a sandwich page, and freezing them until needed.
We also discovered that those frozen pb&j sandwiches work really well for school lunches b/c they thaw out during the morning hours and are just right by lunch time. We use those a lot on days we're running late.
Do you just use the frozen bananas in recipes or throw them in the lunch?
Use them in recipes when I'm feeling inspired and just throw them in the lunch on the days I'm more rushed, lol.
