When does Christmas break start?

My boys have school through the rest of the week, but have early dismissal on Friday. I know that some parents would've rathered gotten out midweek, but I personally like this schedule. They boys will have the weekend to be all antsy, but we'll have some prep work to do to keep them busy. We'll be baking more cookies, making a gingerbread house, and some also want to go see The Hobbit. Then they'll get their Christmas presents on Tuesday, which should keep them pretty occupied for the rest of the week! I'm not sure if we'll do anything fun the following week, but I would like to. What do you have planned for the holidays?

I assumed mine had a 1/2 day on Friday but it turns out they actually have the 1/2 day tomorrow (Thursday). I'm glad someone mentioned making cookies b/c you totally just reminded me I need to go buy cookie dough!! We have a tradition of decorating a ton of sugar cookies every year.

We get out at 11am on Friday and I know many parents, including me, are wondering why the half a day; holiday isn't until Tuesday. Generally kids get out 2 days before xmas unless xmas is a wednesday then they get an extended break. We also get a week in Feburary and a week in April so we do have a shorted xmas break then other areas. I have the next 2 mondays off but I have to work the week after xmas so DH is home with the kids. MIL retires Friday so DH is planning some things with his mom. Then when I get out on Friday we will go away for a long weekend over new years since I get 4 days off.
