9 yr old DD won't sleep in own bed, HELP

Ok, little background first. My 18 moved out a few months ago. A few days ago my 9 year old asked if she could sleep in the other room, since her room was making scary noises. So we let her. When she woke up she told me that she slept in our doorway. I told her that was ok but not to do that again. The next night my DH could not sleep because he thought that he heard her walking around (I can't hear anything when I am sleeping, I wear earplugs, DH snores loudly). Last night she kept trying to sneak into our room to sleep on the floor. My DH finiilly let her because it was past one and he needed to get some sleep. How do we get her back into her bed?

That's a tough one! My 9 year old is quite fearful of many things and to this day, I find him in bed with his brother more often than not. They share a room so it helps, but if they didn't I'm sure he'd be in my room too.

Have you tried to get her a white noise machine or let her play her radio at night at a low level? Maybe it will help keep her mind off whatever scary noise she's hearing. How about a night light or something similar in her room so she isn't as fearful?

Hang in there! Hopefully it is just a phase she's going through and she'll feel more confident soon. Let us know how things are going!
