Cell Phones at School

I came by this article today about a school in Pennsylvania that is banning students from wearing Ugg boots to school. Why? Because students are hiding their cell phones in the boots, bringing them into classrooms, where they are banned.

Neither my 4th or 6th grader have a cell phone, but when I chaperoned a field trip for ds11 (6th, 7th and 8th graders) a TON of kids had phones- nice iPhones and other smart phones. IMHO- ridiculous for most of them.

There are no rules where the older kids go to school. They are allowed in the classrooms, everywhere. While I think they should be able to take their phones to school, I don't think the classroom is the place for them. When we lived in Ft Worth, the kids has cells, but were not allowed to take them to school with them.

I don't have to worry about the younger kids...they don't have cells.
