With more and more schools cutting PE for the lower grades, are you finding it hard to get your child moving?

Love these ideas! I do worry about my oldest guy as he's gained a lot of weight in the last year. He was on a medication that may have encouraged some of the gain and we recently found out that his thyroid level is low, but I also know that he just doesn't get enough exercise. It is hard to encourage a child to get moving when he just isn't interested. I get him out several times a week to walk with me but he isn't too thrilled with it. These are great ideas to try-- thanks!

Oh I know all to well that a thyroid problem can cause weight gain.

Oh, I'm glad to hear that the meds really helped Kristen. Jacob has hypothyroidism too and he's just gained so much weight lately. He's been on medication for about a month so I'm hoping we'll see a difference soon.

Yes, the boys still have PE at their school. They go once a week for about 20 minutes (I think that's the length). They also have 3 recesses per day- one in the morning, one right after lunch, and one in the afternoon. I'm really glad their school is so pro-recess. They really do need to time to run off some energy and just be kids! I'm also hoping that getting back to school will help Jacob a bit. He was a bit of a bum over the summer!
