Halloween Parties at School?

Are your kiddos celebrating Halloween at school this year with a party or celebration of some kind? If so, are they able to wear costumes?

Yes, ours are wearing costumes, though I am slightly concerned about her wearing it all day for gym and recess and it not completely getting ruined. The classroom mom said to send in a bag of extra clothes to change into if they want to take their costumes off. She's rapunzel so she'll have tights on under, I guess I can send in a skirt and shirt to put on. I wish they were just changing into them for hte afternoon or something instead of an all day thing.
They are having Halloween workstations I think in the afternoon, I am not sure what exactly they are, I wasn't able to volunteer to go in and help this time around due to work conflicts.
You know, I just realized my 3rd grader hasn't mentioned this! I'm almost positive they're having one. I'll definitely have to ask thim about it this afternoon.
My 7th grader has already outgrown these...sniff.

We are not allowed to have parties. He had one in kindergarten and I think a few classes after him had one and they would parade to other grades but now there are no parties even in kindy. Food is not allowed in the classroom, too many allergies and restrictions plus no you can't even have sweets in the schoo. The other issues is time in the schedule, there is zero wiggle room and lastly not everyone celebrates the various holidays so as to not offend anyone the kids can't even wear their costume and not have a party...yup my kids school has SUCKED the life out of childhood...
Wow, I had no idea other schools were so strict about parties and sweets! I went to my 3rd grader's class Halloween party and they decorated cupcakes, made a spider out of oreos andn pretzel sticks, etc.
His school's cafeteria did just win some kind of National Healthy Eating award so hopefully that means we're not totally negligent, LOL!

They cracked down statewide but also each town had to put a healthy food policy to battle the obesity issue (insert eye roll from mom of 2 boys with the OPPOSITE problem I NEED them to gain weight!!!) Our distict we can't give or sell sweets to kids during school hours and within a 30 min before and after school but oddly enough the ice cream truck can still park accross the street at 2:15 (again insert eye roll) They also measure kids BMI (state law so opposed to it but I do allow them to check my oldest. He is skin and bones but still under the basic BMI comes back overweight espeically when not on his ADHD medication but thats awhole other issue)
Like I said the no parties is only part food related in our school. The other part of it is they just don't have room in schedule but thats another vent too...
