... of summer break do your kids have left?

I just counted on the calendar and our boys are back in school in 18 days.  Insane!  This summer flew by way too quickly!

Anyone doing anything special in these last few weeks of summer break?

Ugh, and I thought 6:45 on the weekends was early!! That's the only thing i hate about such an early schedule on the weekdays, then they don't sleep in on the weekends!

Glad htey had a good first day Lisa! That sucks about the bus! ODD's last year of middle school the bus was super late and she was freaking out that she had missed it but she just ended up late for school. Then the following day it came earlier than expected and she missed it, such a mess!!

6AM!!! Yikes!! That IS early.
This morning, Riley got up at about 8. When I asked him why he was up, he said you told me we needed to start getting up early. Poor guy; thinks 8 is early. :smileyvery-happy:.

Yay for a good first day! My boys are big talkers either. I get the one word responses too but like you said, details tend to trickle out.

I hope today is just as successful for them!

I was just thinking about it this morning..as the boys were still in bed at 8:30! We're all used to sleeping late..have been for awhile now. :smileytongue:

You know, we have pretty much stuck to our regular routine all summer.  My boys don't like change so for the most part their bedtime didn't change and they've been up bright and early every day (YAWN!).  I did find myself telling them this morning that if they want to sleep in, they better do it in the next week!  They were up at 6am this morning!  I seriously need to invest in some blackout curtains for their room.  :smileyhappy:

Wow, Lisa! I bet your house is quiet today. :smileyhappy: Were your kiddos excited to start back? How did your first morning routine go?

The morning went pretty well! We've missed the bus before on the first day so now I"m paranoid and have them go out there super early until we can get a feel for when the bus is going to come each morning.

My 3rd grader came home and said his day was "great" and my 8th grader said it was "pretty good". I usually only get short answers to my questions and then the stories spill out throughout the day so I'm hoping to hear more details soon. :smileyhappy:

We are down to 12 days now. ACK! I really cannot believe how fast it went by. I'm dreading the back to school morning rush, homework battles, and endless running around. I better enjoy this last bit while I can!

I think it's because we tend to get out earlier (mid to late May).

Still waiting for them to get home to find out how it went- a few more hours to go!
