My boys will be starting school in a couple of weeks and I'm already dreading packing their lunch each day.

It is so easy to fall into a rut of sending the same meals over and over again, isn't it. I know when I was sending lunches, PB&J were the norm. iVillage actually did a little research on this, and members came up with some great ideas for school lunches.

I love the idea of sending frozen yogurts, or apple sauce and they will be thawed by lunch.

I feel your pain! My oldest has for the longest time wanted to eat lunch at school but I've put a stop to that. They just don't serve good nutritious food and I've started to become a bit concerned about his weight. This year both of my guys will be packing a lunch and I'm not looking forward to it!

I think the slideshow Dana shared has some great ideas. I love the idea of sending cheese and lunch meat with crackers. Also, making little wraps with lunch meat around cheese sticks would be fun. Leftovers in a thermos are always a super easy way to pack lunches too- my boys love chili, soup, casseroles, etc. Apples with peanut butter, applesauce cups, frozen yogurt (that thaws by lunch) are always yummy and easy things to pack too.

Faith, I found another iVillage link to healthy sandwich alternatives

Some of them look really yummy! Even for the little ones.
