With Christmas rapidly approaching, do you find your kids being better than usual, worse that usual because of the anticipation, or the same?

Kolby's been pretty good as usual. The older ones, however have been horrible! They are not so patiently waiting for Christmas.

My "kids" are furred and they don't "get" Christmas, so they haven't changed their behavior one little bit!

Has the recession really led us to make do instead of just throw away?
In these economically challenged times, do you think we need a Repair Manifesto?
What do you do to get yourself out of a style slump?

They're being pretty good lately. probably thanks to the "I have santa on speed dial missy" threat. :-)

LOL! Yeah our furbabies are acting worse I think! I was going to buy them a stocking stuffer, but they might get coal.

I use that one too, Dedi! I think that is why the little ones act great during this time...it's my older ones acting crazy now.

The same. I really tried hard not to use the threat of Santa not being kind as a way to get good behavior when they were smaller. They are 15, 13 and almost 11, so they know there's no Santa. I kind of have to remind them throughout the year that if they expect certain privleges and "stuff" they have to earn it. For instance, proving they can take care of and obey my rules about cell phones earns them a better phone at upgrade time and a few ring tones. I am not going to replace things like broken video games, iPods, earbuds, phones, etc because they put them through the washer or step on them, etc.

The only thing I do a little differently is as bdays and holidays approach, I remind them that we only have a certain amount of fun money, so they can blow it on stuff they want right then, but it will mean there's fewer gifts (or, less expensive ones) on those days like xmas. That seems to work well.

LOL!

We don't celebrate Christmas but he's been sweet these past few months. He was rather chuffed when he did really well on his exams and that also contributed to his better behaviour. He's a sweet kid.
