New home, new school

We have just moved to a new city and my children (7 and 10) are going to be going to a new school this year. We have only been here a few weeks but they still haven't met any other children in the neighborhood. I am very worried about how they are going to do going to a brand new school in a few weeks not knowing a soul. What can I do to help them?

I bet they will do just fine.  Mine were 5 and 9 when they started a new school and they did great!
Do you know if there are any other kids in the neighborhood their age?  Is there a community park or pool you could take them to? That might give them a jump start on making some friends. HTHs!

We were in a similar situation a few years ago. It's hard b/c it seems like kids aren't outside playing quite as much anymore. Especially where we live b/c it is soooo hot in the summer. But once school started, my kids were able to make quite a few neighborhood friends through the school bus. Will they be riding the bus or will you be bringing them?
