School supplies ?s

Why talk about school supplies so early? I only get a list from school after they start. True I was looking for book socks (didn't know what that was...) like crazy and couldn't find any. The ones I got didn't fit properly in some cases. Now the only thing I buy ahead of time is the book bags and lunch bags. Maybe some pencils and cases... Clothes as needed...

What other supplies do I need for a 1st grader and a 3rd grader?? Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Rainbow

hi.. we got a list of supplies, in June.
but there is always a list that comes home on the first day on school too...

ds is going into gr 2 and dd is going into kindergarten... for her all she needs is indoor shoes, a box of kleenex, and a lunch kit....ds needs everything for indoor shoes, to a calculator...(yikes!!!)

just be prepared to go shopping the first day school gets out:)

We actually started school Aug. 4th and received our list of supplies a week before school started. My ds started 1st grade and needed everything from special pencils to hand sanitizer...well his school supplies list cost $95.00!! Good luck with your list!

My DD is going into first grade. I guess they get their lists when school gets out the year before (we recently moved to this area so we didn't get a list then ~ we had to go to the school and ask for it). Here are the things that they need:
4 boxes of crayons, 16 or 24 count
pencils, a pack of 10-20 presharpened
2 plastic coated 2-pocket folders
low odor dry erase markers
pencil box or large zip-loc bag to hold supplies
art smock clearly labeled with name
box of zip-loc bags, any size
highlighters
1 box of tissues

It says that these items will be collected, then distributed as needed throughout the year. I don't like that idea ~ I would prefer to buy only what *my* child needs at this time and then replace them if needed throughout the year.

Good luck.

We are fortunate to have grade schools that supply all our children will need through out the year. "IF" we want to add things like kleenex, hand sanitizer, or any extras, then that is strictly up to us.
