What do you think- are superhero movies automatically okay for kids to watch?

Oh, I would say definitely not! I think superhero movies have just as much violence and sex and other adult issues as any other movie. As with all movies, I must see it first before the kids. I wholeheartedly agree with the link.

I think it completely depends on the child. My DS is 7 right now and he has seen all 3 Spiderman movies, all of the X-men movies, Iron Man, and the Batman movies.

He knows that they are all fake. He started out watching cartoons of superheroes, then reading books about them. He knows all the rules about fighting and knows that just because they fight on t.v, it doesn't mean he can do it. We've talked about it at length.

That being said, I wouldn't want him seeing any of the movies without me or DH the first time he sees them, that way if he has questions or we feel something needs to be explained to him, we can handle it. We even took him to see Avatar and Sherlock Holmes, he had tons of questions about them. Some questions were silly little boy questions, but others were really good, deep thought kind of questions.
