Do you have a plan to get them back in the school routine?

oh how nice if real life looked anything like these little blurbs, or at least ours. Truth is last 2 weeks before school are for my kids what many see as a tradtional summer vacation. Camp is over so no more waking up at 6am out of the house by 7 home after 6pm. These next 2 weeks they get to stay up late and sleep late. they have spent the summer getting up early so don't think 2 weeks will make a difference.

Then DH busy season starts at same time as back to school which means our routine is different so we don't get into what our school year routine will truly be like until late september early october, but this is our reality our kids have grown up with and think thats why the adapt well, they are used to changing routines. But I just love little puff peices that think every kid has a sahm and have been having a lazy carefree summer.

We've cleaned out closets, have made it to doctor appointments, and have started to get bedtimes back on schedule.  We will be going to registration today, have back to school night next Monday, and will be doing shopping this week for new clothes and supplies.

I also have a bunch of last things I want to do with the boys before school starts.  We are hoping to hit the zoo and beach (lake) this week.  A movie would be nice too!  I can't believe summer is coming to a close so quickly!

My kids don't have meet the teacher until next week, then start school the 26th. We are going school supply shopping this weekend. We haven't done the doctor thing, but we have been trying to get back on a bedtime schedule. WB, Kristy!

We have meet the teacher night next week, we'll get a post card or email a day or two beforehand to tell us which teacher she has. We have done some supply shopping, but not much. We just got back from a 10 day "vacation", and DH is on call all next weekend, but we'll try and get it done anyways. The girls both go to daycare during the summer, so their bed time and wake up routine never changes which is nice. We are going to start on some new chore chart/responsibilities though.

We just finished our first full week of the new school year. We went "cold turkey" instead of easing back into the school morning/bedtime routine and it wasn't been too bad. I mean, no one is happy at 6 am but I suspect we'd feel the same way even if we had eased back into the schedule instead.

Oh, I just realized we DID do one thing on that preparation list : Create a homework workspace

The poor table that we usually use for homework hadn't been cleared off in quite a while.Embarassed
