The CDC states that the percentages of teen-age sex has declined in the past 10 years. I thought with the recent pregnancy in my family, it would be a great time to educate the rest of my kids. I found this article and thought I would share, because I know there were others out there wondering. Here is a list of the top 10 bases to cover when talking to your child.http://www.ivillage.com/talking-about-sex-10-bases-cover/6-a-144264

My daughter also attended a Christian camp for a month this past summer. She was in the oldest girls' cabin, which historically has a partnership with the oldest boys' cabin. Because of this, she was involved in a lot of co-ed activities she wasn't expecting, like a 3-day hike in the White Mountains carrying a 30-lb pack and a 2-day canoe trip. She's a very reserved, intellectual type, so she really doesn't readily connect with boys. Having this experience really helped her to see boys as fellow human beings with the same struggles, insecurities, and hopes that girls have. I hope this will help her when it comes to dating.
But I also hope she takes her time about wanting to date!
My sister immediately yelled "Dad...Mom just told us sex wasn't that great..."
