Happy birthday Justin! That was thoughtful of you to give your Mom a break and wait until the afternoon.
All three of ours were little brats who insisted on making their appearance in the wee hours of the morning. Do you know how hard it is for Dads to find a crossword puzzle at 3AM? LOL
Happy birthday to Jason -- I hope he has a really grand day today!
Isn't it amazing how quickly time passes? This weekend, C started an on-line drivers' ed course in preparation for getting her learners' permit next month. it's so hard to believe that the time is already here!
I had to laugh at your epi story. I am a firm believer in taking full advantage of the advances in modern medicine. I mean, why the heck not? After C was born, my older DB (bless his testosterone-driven heart) gave me something of a hard time for not having a 'natural' childbirth. I said 'DB there is nothing 'unnatural' about how this child came into the world. Let me ask you this, if you were going to the dentist tomorrow for a root canal, would you do it without novacaine? Or would you prefer a 'natural' root canal?' That shut him up.
LOL Julie this brings back memories of our firstborn. We did the Lamaze (sp?) thing. Took all the classes. We were ohhh so prepared. I was supposed to be the "breathing coach" right? .. I was ready...... OK... Here comes a contraction.... Lets breathe... etc...etc.... DW (bless her heart) grabbed me by the shirt collar..and screamed obscenities unprintable. "This is all YOUR fault! If you tell me to breath one more time, I will take this fetal monitor and shove it up...!!!!......" Uhhh.. OK.... Welcome to childbirth. Not exactly according to plan, but hey.... I can adapt... :-)
I have yet to enjoy the benefits of an epi - they didn't do those here back then. Even now, they do their darnedest to make them NOT happen. Us rural women gotta be TOUGH!!
Congratulations! This is a wonderful time of the year to have babies. My oldest was born today (19th). I hope you got to spend the day with yours. DD is across country and until last year, I was with her every single year on her birthday. I once had to make a six hours drive after I worked all day so that I could spend her birthday with her the next morning. Can't do that now b/c she's 2200 miles away. She is 25 and no, I do NOT feel old - I was very young when she was born and still am.
She was almost a month early. DH refused to discuss a name for a girl but had promised to do so that weekend. He had also promised to paint the nursery that weekend. She didn't wait till that weekend! So she was two days old before she had a name and DH stayed up all night both Fri and Sat night painting. Taught him a little something about time management as a parent (LOL).
My labor lasted from 10:00 am til around 3:20 pm. I wanted drugs too but they waited too late as well. It was 85 degrees the day she was born and snowing the day we took her home.

Happy Birthday, Justin!! Hope he had a wonderful day.
Hard to believe he's 17 now. 17 somehow sounds soooo much older than 16...
Happy birthday to your "baby", LOL.
The first time around I had a bad experience with drugs - they gave me Demerol, of all things - saying it was too early for an epi.
