Frayser High School girls are carrying more than just backpacks these days, many are carrying babies. Now a new campaign is being launched to fight teen pregnancy in the Frayser area.

What do you think is going on in this school?

Is lack of parenting to blame?

And people wonder if we really need a Parents of Sexually Active Teens board??? When a question is posed like this, how likely am I to post something like "I'm terrified because I think my 15 y/o is sexually active"?

Honestly I think sometimes it's just the kids' mindsets - 'back in the day' there were twins in my HS that were my year ('77) - they competed as to who could have the most kids before graduation. These were gorgeous girls (seriously could've been models) who were quite bright too. At this age I'm not convinced they think that far ahead as to what it'll mean to the rest of their lives.

I will have to agree that it has something to do with the mindset... and some of it is the mindset in some social circles that having multiple random hookups (casual, "getting to know you" sex) is acceptable, no big deal - and unfortunately a fair share of that sex is unprotected because kids tend to have the attitude that "it will never happen to me."
