Accidentally catching son masturbating

Well what I kind if knew was inevitable happened last week. I went into my DS's room to get his laundry and when I opened the door, there he was, on his bed in all his glory, masturbating. I usually knock first but I was busy thinking about what I was going to make for dinner and didn't realize that I didn't knock. Anyway, there was not much he could do but turn beet red. I just said, sorry, and quickly left. I knew that he masturbated and truthfully I wasn't even embarrassed. I guess that I was more amused (I have always been amused that boys could never control that part of their bodies), than anything else, though I never let him know that.
Anyway, later when he came down for dinner, he couldn't look me in the eye. After about 5 minutes of silence, he apoligized and asked me if I was angry. My short answer was, no, but that we would talk about it after dinner. I also apologized to him for not knocking. To make a long story short, I told him that I wasn't angry, that it was normal, natural, all boys and most girls do it. I also told him that I knew he had been doing it for a while. When I told my best friend, with whom I have no secrets, about this, she told me that she has almost caught her son on several ocassions. He would quickly cover up and be sweating and red.
Have any of you ever caught or almost caught your son masturbating? My impression is that it's NOT that uncommon.

3 sons here, never caught a one of them - and they aren't kids anymore, but adults. Is it per chance spring break somewhere?

Sure is Rose!
Can't wait to see what's next.

Well Deb, I'm not sure how to answer your question. Would you like us to provide the details? LOL

I have no sons, but I kinda sorta walked in on my dd once a while back. She always slept with her door open and then I noticed that when she went to bed she was closing her door, so before I went to bed, I would go and open her door, without thinking because I'm a night owl and am usually in bed well after she's snoring. Well, one night I walked in and there was a lot of shuffling and I backed out thinking she was just moving around. After I went in my room, I heard her door slam with a rush! The next day she asked me, not exactly very politely, if I could please knock before I came into her room! Also, one night not too long ago, I was having another night of insomnia and while lying there staring at the ceiling, I began to hear 'familiar' sounds coming from her room. I honest to God thought she'd snuck a boy in there!! LOL - she didn't, it was just her all by her lonesome...lol. I quietly closed her door for her and went back to sleep. I didn't want H to hear her. It IS slightly embarrassing, but hey, we're all human and most of us do it too, so...

I don't understand the skepticism here. You mean the doubters here never came close to being caught when they were teenagers? Just remember, boys do it much more often than we did when we were their age, so their chances of being surprised are that much higher, at least the way I see it.

There are so many skeptics because of past history on the board. We've had lots of teens playing games during Christmas break, etc.

But having caught my son by accident, I took your post at face value. My friend also caught her son.

My son never found out, so I didn't have to deal with the embarassment. (just mine, lol)

Cat is right about the skepticism, you wouldn't believe the things that "pop up" here(sorry Pam, I HAD to use that one) during school breaks. 99% of it sexual in nature.

Yeah I can see your point about made up posts. I'm not here that often so I really don't know about those posts, but I'm not really surprised. Thanks Cat for verifying what I said about this not being that uncommon though.
What about your friend and her son? Did he know that he was caught? Bet he was as red as a beet as was my son. As I said in my first post, I wasn't really embarrassed as I was amused.

You know, I think that is a good reason for everyone to at least put something on their profiles. It kind of validates that you're for real...lol. I often will not respond to a poster if I'm not sure and if their profile is empty. I've seen deb around before though, I think.
