DD and I sat down tonight and had a decent talk regarding this ADD stuff and her grades.

Her cheerleading is exactly why I'm in such a panic.

"To be eligible for interscholastic sports and activities at XXXX, a student must be carrying at least three classes and have earned at least a 2.0 average.

Students whose average was below 2.0 but above 1.5 with no failures during the previous quarter may participate on a probationary basis.

Sadly the school will most likely not care about that if her grades make her ineligible...

I'd be glad to help in anyway I can. Sadly, a report done 6 years ago probably will not help. I can't speak for your school, but if you pull a student from school they are ineligible for cheer as they are not enrolled (unless you're talking about a community program rather than school). If you are thinking that ADHD is still an issue, see your doctor as school cannot diagnose. If we think that ADHD is a factor, we have to send parents to their doctors for this. It usually includes teachers and parents completing behavior scales to look at kids in real settings. Doctors don't usually do classroom observations! Be sure that the school psychologist includes a classroom observation in a core subject area. If they find ADHD but not a learning disability, be sure to ask for a 504 plan. There is no $ for these, but it porces the teachers to make certain accomodations. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. What state are you in as I have experience in other states as well.
Merry Christmas!

I guess I don't get why even though it's 6 years old (the diagnosis of add) why it would no longer be relevant.

Ok I did find the info that does state homeschooled students are just as eligible as "regular" students.

I did not say the diagnosis was not relevant, but behavior and the ability to compensate for difficulties does. A 4th grader copes with things much differently than a 10th grader. I would contact the doctor asap to save time, but it may take 2 months as you say. I know that right now it does take us most of the allowed time to get to and complete an assessment due to the number that we have to complete. The doctor may be willing to write a letter saying that ADHD is present based on the past diagnosis, but I know schools and we would want a more recent picture of the child and how they present.

Is the home schooling agency attached to the school district? I know that only students enrolled in our high school or continuation school can participate in cheer, football, marching band, etc. Our home schooled students cannot as they are not members of our student body. Only students with at least a 2.0 and no F's can participate in these activities. I told the school that my daughter would not participate in color guard unless her grades improved and they said that without a 2.0 she couldn't, otherwise she could. I said that my rules were different based on my child and as long as mine exceeded theirs, I was fine! They didn't love me when she took a season off, but that's life!

I remember when T had a choice to make as to the alternative school or something else (and I think I will read back) because of his learning disabilities.
