I thought that it was girls that had the mood swings during their teenage years. My oldest son (13) is driving me nuts. He is typically a great kid, but every once in awhile he lets this beast out. I have learned over the years to choose my battles with my son. He, out of all my kids is the most pig headed and defiant (when he is mad). I have basically raised him as a single parent. His father comes around when he feels like it. He has been more consistent in the last two years, but the bond has been tarnished and his father doesn't do anything to rebuild it. His father does have a good relationship with my other son (9) and gets him just about every weekend. My 13 year old doesn't want to go and his father doesn't wish to force him.

My oldest has always had poor self esteem. He is a good-looking, intelligent, funny, and cool kid. I have done everything I know how to build him over the years. I have enrolled him in many different activities, soccer, football, baseball, karate, ...you name it. I have brought him
