Any stay-at-home moms?

I'm just wondering if there any stay-at-home moms of teens on this board. I've been a stay-at-home mom for a long time, but recently got into teaching. Despite that, I'm still thinking I'd like to continue to be at home, especially now that my kids are teens and able to get into so much more trouble when they aren't superivsed! (LOL) I keep thinking that everybody else has a career. I used to have one, but gradually gave it up because of our kids and several moves we made through my husband's job. But I was grocery shopping today, and noticing that I wasn't the only woman my age who was in the store rather than working, so that made me wonder. In a way, with my kids being 15 and 13, I think I should just finish what I started and wait until they're closer to graduating HS. Any other stay-at-home moms out there? (I looked at the SAHM board, but they seem to have younger kids.)

I agree with you and I am pretty much a SAHM.

This pretty much reflects my thinking at this point. I think these years go by so fast, and I want to make sure that I make the most of them. I also want to be seen as contributing and setting a good example for my daughter (as another poster mentioned), but I think being a SAHM can also be doing both of those things.

Thanks to everyone who replied. It's so interesting to hear how other moms have chosen to balance the work and family issues. I guess we all have to be creative to come up with a solution that works for our own family. I'm glad to know there are others out there like me!

hi,
I am a long time stay at home mom. I have a 17, 16 and 7 yr olds.
I have been home forever it seems. I started having kids when I was very young, so this is about all I know. I worked a little bit a long time ago. I have never thought I was missing out on anything, except maybe a paycheck.hahahhaha and a pension and vacation pay and promotions... hahahhahah.......
Seriously, I think it is the most important thing we can do in this life. I have been spoiled by having a husband who could give us a nice life without an income from me. I know it gets hard in our society to raise your own children and not have 'it all' and have a career. Really though, we do have it all. We are able to get our kids when they are sick at school, we are able to have good dinners at night for them, we are able to be there for them first. There are no meetings before them, no bosses before them, no traffic before them.
They need us physically the most when they are toddlers and emotionally and mentally the most when they are teens. Latch key teens can get into lots of issues. Don't get me wrong, my teens have many issues, but I feel as a stay at home mom I am more available to help them through them or at least supervise it a bit more.
Hope that helps.

Great food for thought! Thanks!
