Does your teen have a hard time keeping their room (or anything else for that matter) decently clean and organized? If so, how do you cope? Do you constantly keep on top of them to get it clean or is it a battle you choose not to pick?

You can only shut the door on the mess when they aren't allowed to eat in their rooms so you don't have those issues.

I'm a door-shutter, but I also don't allow food in bedrooms so it doesn't get too disgusting in my DS's room.

Mine have to clean their rooms and vacuum and do laundry every weekend to get their allowance. If they do not do this, they must stay in the room until it is finished (no outings, TV etc) but they don't get allowance that week. It usually works out pretty well. I do have friends who just shut the door on the mess and let them live that way, but I worry about the sanitary issues with food and bugs or whatever in there.

My guys are untidy but I wouldn't call them slobs.

My DD and my DS are both slobs.

Hell, I *had* one with OCD, and she was STILL a slob!

Put hand on door knob to room. Close door to room.

There are more important things to worry about than a made bed or clothes on the floor.
