Cool!
Hey Pam! I'm almost down to one teen as my dd19 turns 20 on Saturday. She's doing very well, just having completed her 5 month extern in VA since her Freshman year ended in June. She has November off and begins her sophomore year Dec 3rd. I have missed her terribly and am going to enjoy having her home. She and I will be going away to FL for a few days alone Nov 15-19 and while we're there, we're taking a 2 night cruise! Fun.
DD18 had her birthday on October 13th while staying with her dad in NY. She wasn't doing so well after her graduation, and you may recall, had strong thoughts of suicide. She got mixed up with the wrong crowd and left home for a few days, she lost her license for 30 days because she was in a car driven by a minor in which there were unopened beers. Tired as I was, I called on her dad to see if she could go stay with him for a while and he was happy to have her. He made up a spare room for her, bought everything she needed, including a new bed and really made her feel at home. She stayed with him for a few weeks and although she missed home, I was glad for the break. She also had a pregnancy scare in there somewhere, but it was false. I am happy to say that she is doing much better since then. She seems to realize that its okay that she isn't sure what she wants to do with her life right this moment. She got a job at a local store working about 20-25 hours/week to start and she will get more hours once the holiday season picks up. She will get her license back next week and set a couple of goals for herself. So far, she's been respectful of H and I, is keeping her room clean, showering daily, taking care of her own laundry and helping with chores around the house. She invites her friends to the house more often so we can meet them and things are going well.
So, that's our update. Glad to hear that
As much as some of the process seems like a hassle, I see it as such an invaluable thing to have gone through for 'life skills' - best of luck to your Matt (mine's a Matt too, but since dh is also Matt, ds is 'M@').
