We told Kelsie she couldn't have her license until she had gone through a winter with her permit. She doesn't have the $ to have it anyway, but this is one of our rules. We get awfully slippery in the Buffalo area.
As for being in the south with snow. They are funny! My aunt is in Charlotte NC and when it starts to snow things close down. When they get ice though it can get really bad there though.
I know its not the best "close up" pic of all of us wearing glasses and all...but it is one of my fav, family photo's and in my fav place in the world, Steamboat, CO :)
Oh I would be nervous too. My oldest has his permit now. He'll be 16 next week but can't get his license until February. I'm just starting to not grip my seat when I go driving with him LOL! Being from Southern California I myself have never driven in snow so I'm sure I'd be very nervous for myself!
Know the feeling....and I'm so glad we're now in VA and that DS18 has no car on campus. Two years ago he got his license in MI in Sept, and in Dec he took a very sharp curve too fast on an icy, snow-covered side street and slid into the curb. The worst part, though, is that he got out, looked at it, and decided to continue driving to try to make it another 1/2 mile to his gf's house. Well he got only a couple of blocks and called us--he knew something was way wrong. Abot $2,000 worth of damage, which I'm sure would've been a whole lot less if he hadn't continued to drive after he hit the curb. We were just glad he was alone, that no other vehicle was involved and that he was not injured at all.
So everyone, warn your kids to stop and go no further if anything feels/looks even a tiny bit out of kilter after hitting any little thing.
HI there - New here and I read your note and it could have been me last night. 1 year ago today in our town a huge ice storm hit and it was terrible for weeks here.
