I don't think 'size matters' - I think it more depends on what the school offers and the fit of the student to the school. I went to a public school in Chicago 'back in the day' and there were 988 in my freshman class (544 by the time we graduated; yes, inner city school). DS15 goes to a school with about 300 per class. They offer a whole lot more activities, clubs, sports, and AP classes, as well as 'regular' classes like anatomy and phys, geology, astronomy, 5 languages, etc. So it's not just a 'size' thing. In my big class, we were tracked; they don't do that any more here. So I guess if you were worried about the range of ability of kids in the classes (outside of AP or the faster paced classes), that may be an issue to consider. I'd find out more how each school 'ticks' and what works for your kid(s) vs. just size. JMHO.

I would go with the larger school, for a few reasons -- we moved from California to Colorado this past summer.
I think it really depends on the school, town and of course your kids.
We had to choose between sending ds to the public high school (2400 students) or to a local small Christian high school.
My DD went to a fairly large high school (about 430 in her graduating class).
I think you have to look at what the small school has to offer rather than just school size.
Too bad there is such a disparity between the large school and the smaller schools.
I'm not sure I would base how big of a HS to go to on the size of college they will go to...
I went to a HS with 200 in my class (not sure if that is med or small) and went to a HUGE university and I did quite well.
