I have talked a bit before about my DS 16 and his acting and musical theater.
He auditioned today for the production that the school district is putting on. They are combining all three high schools and their theater and choir programs to put on Beauty and the Beast. They will put the show on for the public in late September and then compete with it on the state level in November. They hope to compete with it at the International Thespian Convention in June in Nebraska.

DS worked all summer with his role in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and also with a voice coach to get ready for this audition. He was trying out for the role of Gaston and spent all day today at the auditions.

He got the part!! :) Yeah Yeah. We are very excited for him as he will also be seen by many different colleges and University Theater recruiters during these compitions. They will get the opportunity to recruite and I am told that they do start that process with many of the Juniors that compete.

Thanks for letting me share.

Congrats to your ds, Julie! Sounds like a very talented, dedicated young man. Our school put on Beauty and the Beast Justin's sophomore year. He played the part of a spatula in the chorus ;-) Still had lots of fun with it, though!

How wonderful for your DS!! I love Beauty - and Gaston is such a fun role! (there was a time, when my DD was younger, that we could do the whole "Gaston" song by heart in duet LOL)

What a great opportunity - and validation of his talent!

Congrats

Thanks you guys! He really is excited and we'll have fun watching him this yr. We actually will also get to see the State competition as it is in FT. Worth, only about an hour away.
