Black Friday

I am in awe of “Black Friday” shoppers. Although I admit some befuddlement regarding the entire affair. Just the name alone sounds like a plague that should be avoided. My DD and DW have joined your cult this year.

I have, in the past, gotten up and done some of my shopping early on Black Friday and loved it. This year dh and ds got up at 4:30 and got out the door and into their first store at 5:00 got what they wanted and were out of that one in 15 minutes. Then they were on to Target which was a whole different story. This is the first time dh went to a store like Target, generally we have always stayed away from there and WalMart and that type of store on Black Friday. But this year they went. The line to get into the store was incredible long, but they got in pretty quick.
They said the electronics dept was really crazy. The lines were very long, but they got one that people didn't realize was there, who knows why. All the others were about 30 people long and this one was about 8 or 9. They did get what they wanted and some things they didn't know they wanted at very good prices.
Jaryd was so tired by the time they were finished (they went to a few other stores too) that he didn't even want to go out to breakfast, so they came home and went back to sleep for a while.
I can't tell you what it is about the whole thing that makes people want to get up at ungodly hours to fight crowds and stand in lines, but I have done it and probalby will do it again some time. Jaryd said it was fun and he and Dad might do it every year as "their thing" Of course he knows exactly what he is getting for Christmas and he probably is going to be getting more than we expected to give him, but I'm sure that had nothing to do with it. NOT!!
I guess it is just something you have to experience Daddioe! Maybe next year?
Good morning lol.

I do go out on Black Friday, this is my fourth time...I think it's fun, but I go with no pressure...simply to look for bargains, get into the spirit, not to stand on lines for that one special item...this year I went alone. If I lived in a more urban area, I'd probably skip it...I got a lot of great deals and also discounts for future use. Arrived at our mall around 7:30, each time I bought something, I'd go put it in my car...lots of walking, a good thing, and no lugging. Home well before noon.
I believe the

Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
The downside of it for me is this...I got so much done on Friday, that I have very little left to buy and I LOVE to holiday shop...
This is a tough year financially for many, us included, and I already discussed this with family and friends...I'm not buying for any adults this year. Just the kids, mine and my niece...and a Secret Santa thing I have going on with a group of Internet friends.
I'm not in favor of spending time at crowded malls and getting up early when I can sleep in.
