busy last few days for ds15

Last Friday we had the 8th grade celebration at the school (akin to awards ceremony/graduation). Ds15 was awarded "Most Athletic" by the coaches, and then was voted "Most Humorous" by his classmates. Of course "Most Humorous" is a nice way of saying "class clown"!! Ahhh, we were SO proud! LOL And, of course, all the kids got the Certificate of Completion of 8th grade. Saturday, he turned 15! Yikes! He had a baseball game that afternoon, so late that evening, I took him and 2 of his buddies to Cosmic Bowling. Actually, ds19 dropped them off, and I picked them up at 12:30 (midnite) I told him I hoped he had that out of his system, because I turn into a pumpkin about 11:00pm. This midnight stuff was *killing* me! :) So, then on Monday, I took him to the DPS office for him to apply for his driving learner's permit. I had been stressing the importance of him studying for it because we didn't have a lot of time between his taking the test and beginning the driving part at the driving school. I swear, I was more nervous than he! It didn't seem like he had been long at taking the test at all when he motioned me to come up to where he was standing with one of the DPS ladies. As I approached, she was telling him that he had 3 chances to take his test to pass. Oh, my heart just sank. "oh, no, bud; did you bomb it???" He and that lady looked at each other and just cracked up laughing! He got her to sucker me in that he had failed! Little brat passed with an 88. Sheesh! Tomorrow we are off to Austin for my niece's wedding and will be back on Monday. It's been a wild ride these last few days.

He's actually legal to drive with an adult in the front passenger seat. However, I'm leaving before he gets out of school, so he is driving down with his brother. I would imagine his brother may let him drive on some of those back roads. ds15's driver's ed is thru the school here too, but they wait and do the actual driving part until school is out. Although he must still drive with his instructor to qualify for his "real" license, he is legal to drive with any adult. (Gee, I guess I oughta check to see if ds19 qualifies as an adult in this instance...he may not :( )
Yes, I will be missing chat tomorrow. :) Miss me!!! LOL
