Wow! My daughter would give anything to have had that opportunity. In fact, my daughter looks a little like your daughter? She borders on the "gothic" look. Not quite all the way but the black hair, eye make-up and ear piercings. She wants to pierce her lip but we've said no way. Has you daughter expressed an interest in piercings, etc. that seems to come with the love of that type of music?

funny you should ask... she has asked for a lip ring and we said no - probably until she's at least 16 ... so now she's asked for an industrial - which is an ear piercing as pictured here : http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/1828/industrialear8ga.jpg
we said okay to this one but from what i've read it appears to be painful and require a lot of aftercare...she's aware and wants to do it anyway - but wants to wait until the end of february so she doesn't have to worry as much about wind upsetting the healing process.

it appears to be the band members piercings that influence the kids.. or at least that's how it seems to me....

tomorrow the band will be on MTV's TRL and she's invited to go there too - she's upset because she can't find a friend to go with who gets out of school early enough to go - she has to be there at 2:30 and she gets out of school at 2pm and is not too far from where she needs to be....

No need to apologize, Rachel. You're not bragging, you're just telling us about your DD's great oppurtunity. I hope she has a fabulous time.

I'm still uncomfortable about all the piercings. My daughter is 17 and will be 18 in June. She doesn't have an earring that big yet. Her bar that she has now is much smaller. For some reason they have a fettish for putting large discs in the ears too. What's that all about? My husband and I feel eventually she'll be disfigured (she did these piercings at a friend's house without us knowing). She seems to be happy for the moment with 4 piercings in one ear and 5 in the other. I guess you have to pick your battles.

my daughter doesn't have any piercings yet - except for regular earrings and those actually may have closed up ... the picture i included was just an photo found online of what an industrial is... she doesn't have it yet - only considering it and i don't know what size bar she'd get... i don't know if she knows that yet -

initially she wanted a lip ring which we said no to - at least a piercing in the ear can be covered up - and she has long hair.... i think if they are done well they heal up well if unused.. though i don't know what's involved in those disc piercings
