Can't wait for vacation
Find a Conversation

Between my DD's lack of sleep and increase in work, and my own increase of work, I am soooo looking forward to a few days off next week. Even the four day trip to visit my MIL is looking pretty good! DD has been borderline bearable on some days - on Saturday she was complaining for about 6 hours straight. The final straw was an "I hate my life" because we tortured her by bringing her to her adoring grandparents where she was showered with love and gifts, rather than allowing her to go to a unsupervised party for potential "hooking up" with the very cute guy in her French class. (What were we thinking?) When I was not sympathetic enough with how bad her life is she said (sarcastically) "that was helpful". And I laid into her. I did not raise my voice - I'm sure no other family members even knew the conversation was happening - but I made it clear that I wasn't too wild about hearing non-stop griping, and even added "at this point, I"m wishing you're back in NY, too." Fortunately, she pulled herself together, was warm and gracious to all family members (even my crazy aunt and cousin), and in the end said she was glad she had not gone to the party ("it didn't sound like it was too much fun anyway").
Anyway - we will ALL be happy for a few days away from the routine. Do you think I'll get her to clean the bedroom enough so we can see her floor, her desk, and her desk chair??

Well Sue, I'm not holding out any hope for clean bedrooms here, but I'll hold out some for you just the same.
I'm ready for a break too!
I'm glad to hear she was able to get it together in time to actually enjoy herself and to be enjoyable!
I'm with you on that Sue!!!

My best hs girlfriend sometimes had to stay home from school due to cramps.
Oh Sue,
