Cell Phone Dropped in Water
| Sun, 12-02-2007 - 12:59pm |
DS dropped his cell in, let's just say some water, and now it's not working. I know I've read previous posts about the same type thing and wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions to revive it. Right now it's not turning on.

quick.....remove the battery
Then turn it off, dry with a hairdryer, then put in a sock and put the sock in a bag of rice for 2 days, in a warm place. The battery can airdry.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I wrapped the phone in cheesecloth (didn't think of the rice dust though) and put it in a plastic bag filled with rice. I'm just leaving the battery out to dry. Worst case scenario is that I get my new phone (Verizon new every two) and give him my old razor, which is falling apart and battery doesn't last long. But that's what you get when you bring your phone into the bathroom with you LOL. We did try to turn it on several times, so we may be S O L anyway.
Have a great day guys.

Take it apart, take out battery, blot dry with a towel, blow dry, not too hot, and let sit under a lamp or sunlight for a day or so, and most important, cross your fingers. This
hair dryer temperature is not high enough to debond solder joints. Solder is after all metal. If it was, you could not use cell phones in very hot areas.
Most likely, if the water has made it inside to the electronics, it is not usable any more.
