There are some out there that probably read the 'Madeline' books to their teens when they were little --

Funny you should mention Madeline because I was just looking at a Madeline doll in the FAO Schwarz catalog that came in the mail today! I loved those books. I have never experienced what you describe--especially not for everyone in the household all at the same time. I wonder if maybe your kids are getting "weirded out" at the thought of spending their first Christmas holidays in your new house. Could that be it??

H&R is sooooo right. There is a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder and I have it. It generally hits me in January and February, this is when I get really down and depressed. I'm not saying that your family has this, but this kind of thing happens to a lot of people when there is seasonal change.

H&R's advice is great. When you get up in the morning, have on a lot of lights and this will help your brain adjust to the day quicker, in the evening do the same thing. But only early evening, if you have a lot of light later at night your brain won't want to go to sleep.

These things also help people that are having problems sleeping. Another one if there are problems sleeping is to not use the computer late at night. It isn't the activity that keeps you awake it is the bright light that makes your brain think it is time to be awake.

These are things I learned from Kelsie's sleep disorder doctor. Try the things H&R suggested as well as these things and see if they help. This time of year is also very stressful and with you being in a new home and area, it may be adding to the problem.

In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines
lived 12 little girls in 2 straight lines
in 2 straight lines they broke their bread, brushed their teeth and went to bed.

Glad I brought back some good memories!

Chiming in late, but that was going to be my suggestion too: seasonal affected disorder (SAD).
