This may be a silly question since I'm sure there is one class ring company and every school uses it, but how much did you spend for your kids' class rings?? My DD came home with the brochure the other day, and I now have "sticker shock". I'm pretty sure my parents didn't spend several hundred dollars on my high school class ring! There are so many choices now as far as personalizing it. I think the only choice we had back in the dark ages was a girl's ring or a boy's ring, and the ring size! Where does it end??

I'm right there with you, having sent in the deposit only yesterday. And to add to it, DS is allergic to nickel, so we had to pick a more expensive metal. All together, it was around $370 - enough to make me "puke." (Sorry, but I can't believe the cheapest one we could buy is this expensive.) DS will be paying a third, and promised that he would wear it every day. You know, my engagement right wasn't much more than that LOL. Oh, this is added to the trip to London for his chorus this year, adding another $2300 school expense. College may not be such a shock after all ;-)

Actually a very good question.

For my crowd back in the dark ages, it was somewhat dorky to wear a HS ring after your freshman year of college. Maybe it's changed. Maybe it's different for girls. I just don't know..

OMG, DD's marching band is also planning a trip to London next year! And my son is in the band too, so you can imagine what the cost will be. What are these schools thinking?!

It's not a silly question at all.

The older two had no interest-phewww! I doubt the youngest will either-he cuts the tags out of his clothes because they bother him; he isn't going to want to wear a ring-LOL.

Kelsie doesn't have one and isn't getting one. At her school they aren't even sr. rings they are school rings and anyone can get one. The prices are crazy especially when I know they won't wear it for long.

I, too, had no choice in what the ring looked like. We had girls and guys and that was it. Like the other poster, the only other choice was size.

We decided that if we were going to spend that much money on it we would get something that she could and would wear for a lifetime. So what we will probably do is let her pick something she really loves and get that for her for graduation, or a birthday or something like that. I just know the school ring isn't going to be worn.

I still have mine, of course it is in my jewelry box and I never wear it, but I did for quite a while and I do treasure it. I don't know why, I hated high school. LOL!!

My DD's ring cost $260 and she had to pay some toward that--her dad & I (we're divorced) split the rest.

Neither of my dds bought a HS class ring and neither of them regret it. I offered to buy my older dd one for her birthday in her senior year and she said she had no interest. I am grateful because I think they are incredibly overpriced and honestly, most people don't wear theirs after HS anyway!
