Clothes shopping

Took DD shopping yesterday for warm clothes - she's been layering t-shirts and light jackets, and just not warm enough for real fall/winter weather. She's usually NOT grabby about clothes, so when she asks for something I'm happy to indulge. Also, yesterday we went to American Eagle - she's usually a Target or Forever 21 shopper.
Well, we went a little bit crazy - three sweaters, four long sleeve shirts, and a pair of jeans - not so much to last the winter - but it cost more than either of us expected. I felt so bad for my DD - she was in shock, almost crying, she hates to think of spending that much on clothes or on herself. We're lucky that we can afford it, but we don't usually spend that much in one stop, and since she usually avoids any name-brand label, she was surprised. I know many moms have the opposite problem - teens who only want brand-name and over-shop - so I am grateful. I just feel bad that my DD felt bad ("don't tell dad") and greedy (she said it, not me).

Sue, can my dd hang out with yours?
Hi, everyone...clothes shopping is a constant issue for me with 3 kids, ages 12-18. Altho the 18 year old is pretty good about buying his own stuff. He doesn't want to go shopping WITH me, God forbid...and I can't pick out his clothes unless it's something simple, like your basic OldNavy jean...LOL since he spends his own cash, in doing laundry I see he's been shopping at WalMart and Target. He always looks nice.
All of the girls love Hollister, A and F, American Eagle, etc. I find A and F to be the biggest offender. I think my girls each have one Tshirt from there off the clearance shelf. A Tshirt goes a long way, from the street to pajama wear.
I would never, ever pay full price at any of these stores. They get a few things from AE and even less from Hollister, and use these pieces to layer. I can't even stand to go into Hollister, the music is too.loud.
We like Aeropostale. Basically the same styles at a fraction of the cost. The first week something may be full price but rarely.
