Colleges are getting back to applicants now, and I was just wondering if any of you had any good news to share. Did your kids get into their number one? my kids have heard back from all of their schools, and now are thinking about where they will go. Reagan got into UCSB, UC Santa Cruz, NYU, USD, and CSU Humboldt. She was only rejected from UCLA, but a lot of kids were this year. Shea got into every school which were UC Santa Cruz, UCSB, Boston University, SDSU and SFSU. Bradford, got into Standford, Harvey Mudd, UCLA, Berkley, and UCSD, which are all great schools. If Princeton and Cal Tech don't want him then he doesnt need them, so my youngest told him to try to cheer him up. I am proud of all of them and now just know that there will be a lot of decisions in the next month.

Wow! I can't imagine having three of them to worry about. DS17 has been deferred at his #1, and still hopes to hear good news by mid-April.
So, did all three triplets compete vs. one another all through school? Is that how they all turned out so sharp? Or will YOU take the credit for their success? They really did do well. Tell them congratulations from a POT (parents of teens) mom. And congrats to you, too--we know you did triple-good!

In a way they all did compete against each other, even the youngest competes with them. A lot of it did have to do with my husband pushing them with an iron fist because he is a firm believer in education. They all really want to be above his standards, and all of them have surpassed it by a long shot. Plus they would all help each other with school, AP exams, and just life. In the end it was all them because they did all the hard work.
Thank you though and keep me posted on your son's first pick school. Good luck!

There are triplets in my ex's family (2 boys & a girl), plus 3 other kids, so my ex MIL actually gave birth to 7 kids in 5 yrs (one baby died). Unfortunately, none of the kids went to college, which is surprising since everyone in my FIL's family went to college. I guess he was just worn out and sent his sons into the Army.
My DD decided to go to UMass Amherst. She was also accepted at UMass Dartmouth, Curry and UNH. As you can see, she didn't want to go far from home. She wasn't too impressed w/ herself that she got accepted at all the schools she applied to because "they weren't too hard" but then again, the Ivies don't have nursing. However, the nursing program at Amherst only accepted about 70 students into the freshman class and last year they had 900 applicants, so to me that's impressive.
It is just starting to hit me about her going away, even though it's only about 2 hrs. My ex & I wanted her to go to Dartmouth, which is only about an hour away, but she liked Amherst because it's the main campus of UMass and much bigger. I can see that she would like the excitement. Now it's like "she's really growing up."
Congratulations to your daugther! She should be very proud of her accomplishments. My daughter, Reagan, is the same way. She is upset that she did not get into UCLA, while her brother did (and he's not even going). I told her that she should be proud of her acceptances and that she has worked very hard the past four years.
None of them have made a decision yet and much to my dismay none of them are staying in San Diego. In a few months, my household of 6 will shrink down to a household of 3. Reagan is stuck between UC Santa Cruz and San Luis Obispo. Shea is thinking of either San Francisco State or UC Santa Barbara. Bradford is torn between Stanford and UC Berkeley. The other day I realized, that in two years my youngest, Carlin, will be going off to college and to top it off she wants to go to the east coast.

DS18 was accepted at Notre Dame, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Indiana University, Butler, Rose-Hulman (betcha few have heard of that one!), and the University of Arkansas and will attend Arkansas this fall. He wanted away from home, a big school and a great track program and Arkansas has all those things. He's been accepted into the Fulbright Honors College there and will be a PreMed/Biochemistry major.
We were in Fayetteville, AR last week looking around campus and town and he is ready to move in, lol. As for mom....I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to send my "baby boy" 500 miles away. ::sigh::
Go Razorbacks!

Hey- he must be a really great guy! LMAO DH works at Rose-Hulman, my dad and younger brother are alumni. DS could have attended gratis (tuition/room + board are upwards of 35K yearly) but changed his mind and opted for a big school. Oh well....it's only money, right?
