We don't have anything installed to prevent inappropriate web site viewing (ok, learning lesson now) and I've discovered that someone (although according to 3 kids here, not them) viewed a site and I want to know who. Since I know exactly when each of these 3 were in the house alone, I'm wondering is it possible to discover an exact time as to when it was viewed? DH is out with the Navy (unreachable) and these computer geek kids of ours "claim" you can't get a time and that I (yes, me!) must have clicked on this site without realizing it! Oh, I don't think so!

Click on history and when the list of addresses comes up on the left, float your cursor over the link you want then right clickm, hit expand and then click on properties. It will bring up the last time the site was accessed and how many times. Not sure how to show by what user though. Hope this helps some.

I did exactly this, but it only gives the most recent time the site was visited - which of course was mine when I had gone to see exactly what this was, lol. There is not a listing of times, but thank you and now I know better for next time - not to visit the site until I've gotten such info!

A few years ago, I was teaching an Advanced PowerPoint course. I had the wife of a Baptist Youth Minister in the course. She was working on her homework at a youth lock-in at the church. The apparently didn't have a filter on their computer either. She had to go to an Internet site to download an outline. She accidentally left out a letter from the Web address and entered a porn site. She immediately tried to close the site by hitting the big red X only to open another. Flustered she just pulled the plug on the whole thing and lost what she had already done on the assignment. There were several of the teen girls in the room with her at the time so she had to explain to parents what happened when they came to pick up their DD's.

I've had the same thing happen in class and SOME of the students are so embarrassed. I've actually seen a few write down the address so they can check it out at home. The reactions have been sort of humorous. Please keep in mind that this is college so most of my students are over 18. Now I warn them all and tell them to double check the address before they enter.

To find the exact time is near impossible BUT we can try to out smart them for next time!!!
First /print this off once you have read it.Just went through these steps to make sure this will work for ya.
1-Go to the "START MENU"
2-Click on "CONTROL PANEL"
3-Go to "SECURITY CENTRE"
4-Click on "INTERNET OPTIONS"
5-Top tabs of reads Internet Properties
6-Click on "CONTENT"
7-Top choice is "CONTENT ADVISOR" ** Here you can put in a password so the changes you will make CANNOT be changed unless they guess the password. Pick something only hubby and you know.It drives them crazy!!
8-Next click SETTINGS"
9-Go through these carefully. They allow YOU to choose Ratings & Approved Sites or Non-approved. In the General tab,you can set up the password.I would advise you to leave the Advance tab alone.

Don't hesitate to recruit the help of a local computer geek. They get a kick out of outsmarting kids. Keep on it! :)

also, go into your cookies. i found my son one time had gone into a handful(no pun intended) of porn sites...go on Tools; options; cookies, and view files then you can see the date and times on the right of the sites as they are listed...good luck.

I was asked to check a business computer for illegitimate activity at one stage. The users of the computer had a fair idea I would check and dumped their temporary internet files. I discovered however, that it did not delete hidden system files. What I did to determine what had been viewed on the computer and when was this: I used the search on the computer, (start -> search) and typed in *.jpg - making sure hidden files were included in the search. This search brought up all the .jpg images on the computer. Among the hidden files were MANY gay porn images- I right clicked on them and clicked on properties. It told me the date the image was created, modified as well as last accessed. I was using Windows 98 at the time, not sure if this will work for XP or not but could be worth a try.
