Hi,
I've heard of computer tracking software & think it might be a good idea for me for my 15dd. What kind do most people use or what's the best for checking IM & myspace? Also, do you tell your kids you've got it & will be using it??
Thanks & Happy New Year!

Hi,
We use a stealth program called spectorsoft and have done so for the past 6 weeks. It is very worthwhile. I can see every screen that my kids visit in a fast forward mode and slow it down when there is content I want to examine more closely. Every keystroke is recorded and all IMs and Myspace activity is documented.
We told our kids we would be monitoring their internet activity. We have not shared the details of the program with them nor do we tell them when we are reviewing their activities. We have learned a great deal about our kids and their friends via this software. Our dd was planning to rendezvous, with her girlfriends, at Disneyland, with college boys she met on the internet. Her plan would have worked - - we would have dropped her and her friends off at Disneyland. Knowing her plan, we structured a family event to coincide with the planned Disneyland rendezvous even before she asked to go to Disneyland. The plan was completely foiled and these big boys from another town went ahead and went to Disneyland even though the girls could not make it. Yeah, that was manipulative of us, but we are tired of being manipulated and making parenting decisions based on partial information, are worried about safety and need to buy time for our kids to mature into making better choices before they avail themselves of the full smorgasbord of the internet and real life.
