Crush's dad is a rock star

The guy that DD(14) has a mega-crush on is the son of a rock star. At first, I said "how much of a rock star could he be if I never heard of him?" After she stopped laughing, she said "do you really want me to answer that?" LOLOL guess I'm not as 'cool' as I thought. Anyway, it ends up that he was a mega punk rocker in the 80s and continues to be a guitar and punk rock 'celebrity'. DD really likes the kid (who I haven't met, of course, that would be too embarassing, this is still a crush not a BF), and him having a rock star dad certainly adds to the attraction! Hard to compete with that cool of a parent!!!

lolol

Ok, you HAVE to know that we are dying to know who the dad is!! LOL----remember, I'm firmly entrenched in the 80's---although I don't know if Punk Rock was my favorite---I mean, I liked it, but off the top of my head, I can't think of any punk rock bands! Oh, this must be a senior moment, huh?

Seriously, I know you may not be able to share the info, but you've piqued MY curiosity!! Just think, you may be 'in laws' to an 80's punk rock icon! haha, just joking................

When you are old and in the nursing home, you can tell this to the staff and they'll just smile and say, of course, dear.

Seriously though, my mom's neighbor's son married one of the Beatles' ex-wives. They used to come to her house at Christmas so I actually met Ringo Starr's kids. He used to fly here to spend Christmas Eve with his kids - never met him though. And know you are all going, "of course, dear."

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! You realize I'm dying to know who this person is. I know, you can't tell. Well, maybe someday in the future you can give us a hint. ;)

I am getting curious too! Can you tell us one of their big hits?! That won't identify this particular band member! I had some friends that were in to that music scene in the early 80s so I heard a lot of the music although I didn't go to any of the concerts. I'm trying to think of which of those guys are even still alive, much less the father of a teenage son!

Boy, wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall when the son asks the dad about if he ever did ____?!!!

LOLOL Of course everyone here knows I can't put someone's name on a public board!! Not to mention that my DD would *kill* me!!

This dad

*has his own entry in Wikipedia (which I think is mega-cool lol)
*played in a pre-Sex Pistols punk band
*still records

Well ... not everyone. I'm uneducated about this -- why can't you say who it is? Especially since he's already a public figure. Wouldn't it be like me posting, "DD has a monster crush on Orlando Bloom"?

Probably just dumb, but I really don't know or understand ...

Okay, that narrows it down to a couple hundred guys!

How about some more hints?! Is he British or American or other?

You said he was a mega punk rocker in the 80s, was that a different band than his pre-Sex Pistols band?

I was working on this for a while and decided I just didn't want to know this much about punk rockers.

But wiki is a great place to start.

My plan was to filter out all non-UK bands and all bands not extant before 1975, find all members within those who were still alive, still recording, and living on the East Coast.

That should reduce it to a few dozen candidates, then it's just a matter of googling them to see how many have kids.
