Daughter dating Mormon boy

Maybe a stupid question...DD has just started dating a boy who is LDS. (I hope there are some of you here to answer my question!) He is here with her right now watching a movie. I know LDS is much more strict than we (Methodists) are, so I'd like to respect their rules. She is currently wearing shorts and a tank top, which I understand is a no-no. That is pretty much her summer uniform...should I tell her she needs to dress differently as long as they are dating? Would his parents be offended if she showed up at their house in that?

I'll get flamed for this, I'm sure, but I do feel I have to say it. I believe that LDS is a rather restrictive cult. They are nice, clean-living

Thanks for looking that up! If this lasts any length of time at all, I'll just tell her to dress conservatively when she is with his family. I'm sure it won't kill her to wear capris and a nice top once in awhile. I looked at their family pics on FB as well :D, and from the pics it seems they have large groups of teens at their house a lot, including boys and girls. It looks like perhaps they encourage doing things in a group (which is a good thing). There were some prom pics of their daughter's who is a year older than DD's bf. She's very pretty and her dress was gorgeous, but she wore a wrap over her shoulders.

That's one of the very reasons I don't think this will be long-lived.

There's certainly nothing wrong with learning about other beliefs and lifestyles, BUT your dd should consider the boy's feelings, and begin to look carefully at her own motives.

I think these things are true about LDS, but I could be mistaken.

They are always looking for converts and dating is a way.

I've heard that about weddings as well. I guess he will not be inviting her to church! I'm not sure why, but all the LDS kids here seem very straight-laced. IDK if that's just an act, or why they seem more observant of their religious rules than other kids of different faiths

I don't think this is the board for religious discussions, but I *do* encourage you to learn about what the LDS teaches.

I can totally understand the attraction. My daughter is also annoyed by the grabby types. She isn't dating anyone yet, but the list of "acceptable" behaviors in a potential boyfriend is very restrictive.
