Hi all,

My daughter's boyfriend of two years plus just broke up with her last week. She did catch him cheating on her but she is broken hearted and crying constantly. How do we get her through this? She would go back with him if he just said the word even tho he is no good for her.

Many gentle hugs to your dd. Unfortunately there's really nothing you can do to kiss this boo boo away. Teen age heart break is a pretty common part of life and most of us live to tell about it ;-). Just be there to listen to her cry and vent. Try to refrain from saying anything negative about the boy. Encourage her to reconnect with her girlfriends. Good luck and keep us posted!

Ugh, this is one of the many problems no parent can fix. When I went through my first break-up way back in the day, my mother encouraged me to stay busy and not to allow myself too much time alone (easier said than done, since I was/am an introvert and usually like being alone.) But this was great advice, because a busy mind can't dwell too much on the grief.
