DD away at her "pre college" experience

We dropped DD off yesterday for her two-week pre-college experience. She was so excited, proclaimed her roommate "nice" after only a few minutes, and said "is it OK if I go (into the RA's room) with the other girls now?". No separation anxiety for my DD!! lol

It seems like this program has a very organized approach and very realistic - allowing the kids some of the freedom of college, but recognizing that they are still HS students. They have a very strict drug/alchohol policy - one infraction, no questions asked, you are expelled. You can be expelled even if you are just in the room with kids who are drinking. And a strict curfew - in the dorm by 11:30 - you can still be awake and in someone else's room hanging out, but in the dorm.

I can't wait to hear how today went - getting herself up, finding breakfast, getting to a 9am class, and all the other fun college things!

I can't wait to hear about it either! I hope she has a really great time.

P.S.: Does your DD get any kind of school credit for this? My DD will earn college credit for her AP class next year. Does this kind of program work the same way?

Sounds like a fun experience and a good way to start easing them into dorm-life!
