Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
P+PT going your way. Hope everything turns out OK.
Just FYI: Both my Mom and I got Lumbar Puncture Headaches, and they were NOT fun. Headaches are the most common side effect of lumbar punctures (also called spinal taps). Estimates on how common they are range from 15% to as high as 50% of people getting a lumbar puncture. Anyone can suffer from a headache following a lumbar puncture, however, it seems to be most likely if you are: female, between the ages of 20 and 40, and have a history of headaches. If she SHOULD have this side effect, remember she must avoid aspirin and ibuprofen, as their anti-clotting properties would slow healing of the hole in the dura. Tylenol+codeine works well. If the headaches last more than 24 hours and T/C does not work, tell your Dr ASAP. There are other methods of stopping the pain, and you would also want to make sure nothing else was wrong. Good Luck.
I hope all goes painless and perfect for her!
I also had this done and they made me stay laying down for 4 hours after the procedure, no headache or later problems for me.
Many prayers for good results Monday- can't wait to hear.
