dds embarrased by our car...

Hi,

Our dds are embarrassed by our car. I don't want to try to make them adjust to it--teenage years are hard enough. I'd like to work itt us as a family.

We drive an old big caillac. A large car helps me get around more as I don't feel as much vibration. The vibraion inflames my muscls and givs me fevrer.

I need much less recuperation time after riding if the car is large, like a limo.

I dont want to get a grandmom car. We'll gr something the two kids, dog and luggage in the show?

Well, if anybody knows a car that drives smoothky I dont any car. If you have an idea. I would appreciat it.

Truthfully sunnymommillion, your DDs are at an age where everything you do, think, or say is potentially embarrassing for them, it's the curse of having kids in the early teen years.

Im thinking to be 'current' and comfortable, you might be looking at a SUV?

The Crossovers might be a more comfortable ride-

I agree with Rose. Your kids are going to be embarrassed no matter what car you drive. It's just the age they're at. My DD is so embarrassed by my husband's car, yet we kid her all the time that she's going to love it when she turns 16 in a few months and it becomes her car! My DS who is 13 is embarrassed by my very existence! He's a great kid and very loving at home, but he probably wants the ground to open up and swallow him up every time I step out of the house! I'm confident they'll outgrow it.

I can remember the same feeling from my parents car.
However, once I got my license,I was happy to have a car
to drive and quite thankful they allowed me to drive it on
weekends and take friends along.

She will get over the feeling, there are always things we
are embarrassed about, parents don't have to be cool
about everything.

IMO, your needs outweight your kids' likes and dislikes, especially in this situation. Your kids will get over it - tell them to suck it up and be quiet. One day they can drive whatever car they can afford, insure and enjoy!

If you're actually in the market for a new car, 6 cylinders are smoother than 4 cylinder cars overall. Not sure if you'd be into an American only or if you'd buy a foreign made car, but the 6 cylinder Toyota Camry is a very comfy car and so is their 6 cylinder Sienna minivan (and it holds many people, dogs, etc.) - we had one of those and man, do I miss it when we're driving long distance. Be careful of smaller SUV's as they are often bouncy and can really bother your muscles if you do a lot of driving. We had a Rav4 and hated it, we got rid of it within a year! I know Ford and Chevy's make sedans that are 6 cylinders and one of my friend's has *I think* a Malibu that she LOVES. The boatlike cars are definitely more comfy driving, but they are boats and I think your kids may have an issue with them as well. Both my teens loved my Sienna and my oldest used to BEG me to use it over her car, which was a sporty little Subaru.

Bottom line: do what works for you. Hugs and good luck!

It is very obvious you are a caring and concerned mom wanting to make things as right as possible for your dd's.

You are thinking of getting rid of a car that you like becasue your kid doesn't like it?!?!?!?!?!?!? Wow, he holds an awful lot of power in the family. My dd may not like my HUGE blue van, but hey it is that or walk. Tough beans!

I had another thought about this thread as I was working this morning....

Most of us as parents tell our kids not to follow the crowd, not to succumb to peer pressure, not to follow the crowd down a bad path.
