In small quantities I do, but I've never had a whole cupboard full of junk.

I've gotten way better with this..my house is hangout central and I like it that way, for obvious reasons. But I found the kids, the big guys especially, were going thru tons of chips and sodas. So I stopped buying it. Now I buy juice and seltzers. They still drink a lot, but not so much as before. If they want a snack, its something that requires effort, make a sandwich or a pizza. I no longer buy cookies or sweets, anything we have we have to bake. (Not sayin' from scratch tho, lol) I am also famous

Yup. I purchase some things in qty when they're on sale, so sometimes it's a lot I have around, but I've always kept the smore poptarts hidden from DS18, cuz he'd eat a whole box in a couple of days. Funny though, when I sent two boxes along when he moved into the dorms, they were still unopened two months later. I hope that means he's choosing healthy food in the cafeteria. His other favorite food is pretzels, and cuz of the high glycemic index and the salt I did stop buying those on a regular basis. A bag of those I'd sent also was unopened.

DS24 never had much of a sweet tooth, but goes for all the hip foods--sugary chai or juice drinks he cannot afford. No one in our home was ever much into the salty, fatty snacks. I quit buying soup about 10 years ago cuz it's got way too much salt, and little or no nutritive value. Same for many convenient, frozen entrees, especially pizza--the bad outweighs the good in them. No super-sugary cereals either, but 10 grams I'll accept if someone asks for a brand with that much in it.

When the boys' friends were over (not often) I would buy junk food. But if they came unexpectedly, they'd often choose a bottle of water over pop. We usually have pop around, too, but I rarely have more than one can a day. Did have to watch both DSs with the pop for a while, though.

When the guys started driving, they and their friends would often go to fast food places, and that's where they ate most of their junk food. DH and I rarely step in one.

But we do have our vices. Dark chocolate for me--that is always around. And so is the ice cream that DH needs, but I do buy Edy's Light. For snack food DH & I eat mostly nuts--we eat a ton of peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds and pepitas--unsalted or low salt. Sometimes chips & salsa/guac. Thank God for Trader Joe's!

DH is 10-15# overweight, and in the past I've been 5-10 over, but neither of our sons ever has been. We all try to exercise regularly and that helps.

Of course...right next to the empty cereal box.

Oh, that reminds me, Special K's, another great snack..with the red berries, chocolatey pieces or fruit and yogurt. They love it with or without milk.

I tell you what happened with my son...he never had a weight problem, he was always the other way, a stringbean, KWIM? And he ate tons of junk food...the only *meat* would be from McDonald's...but now he's 18, a *super-senior* and some of his friends went off to college or the military, and he discovered...the gym! He has been going for over 3 months now. As soon as he started seeing results, he was motivated to overhaul his diet. No more junk, at all! No soda, no fast food, no chips...he watches everything he puts in his mouth and reads labels. I daresay, he's a food snob! (got me off the Diet Pepsi)

I hope your 15 YO
