My son was invited to his friend's 16th birthday party -- at HOOTERS. I think this is a tacky location. What do you think? Also, the friend's parents are Christians. What are they thinking? Or, am I being too square?

They don't have any Tilted Kilt in our area--what is it?

Tilted Kilt is similar to Hooters in that the waitresses are young and attractive - they wear short kilts as opposed to shorts. They have an Irish theme; I've not been there but they seem dh said they have much more than just Irish food on the menu - pizza, wraps, burgers, etc. And a variety of beers and drinks.

I wouldn't expect to see girls in Canada, even in the height of summer, wearing revealing clothing, any more than I'd expect to see girls in Costa Rica, even in the height of winter,

K, I have to ask. Why wouldn't u expect to see girls in Canada wearing revealing clothing??? They are just as influenced by the media as anywhere else. Maybe I'm just dense here tonight & so I apologise if I'm missing something. I'm Canadian & my DD has chosen bridesmaids dresses for her wedding that don't show cleavage & have asked the girls not to wear push up bras as she is tired of seeing nothing but boobs in all her friends' wedding pictures.

Tacky?

Yes, and funny also. LOL

There was a home birthday here in Texas where the mother hired a real stripper to "entertain" at her sons 16th birthday party .

Have you talked to any of the other parents of the other kids who are invited? Just curious what they're thinking/letting their kids do.

Since it does get hot in Canada in the summer, I would expect women there not to be dressed any differently than women do in the US--I'm sure they are wearing short shorts & bare tops in the summer, not wearing turtlenecks.

I think it is a tacky place to hold any party. Are there worse places? Sure, but that still not an excuse for tacky behavior. As I tell my my son, would you want some one to ogle your sister in that way? Then don't do it to someone else's sister. Yes, the girls apply and choose to do that job, and we all know that sex sells, but that does not mean that I, nor my family, have to go down to that level for entertainment.
