Yes. My girls have wanted to buy presents for us and each other since they were about 6 and 8. They thoroughly enjoy buying for others, us, each other and their friends. When they were little and didn't earn their own
My kids do buy gifts for my DH and me and for each other. My DD, for the past couple of years, has also been buying gifts for a couple of her closest friends (and boyfriend, as of last year). These gifts are very modest, but usually quite thoughtful. I'm embarrassed to say that we still have not gotten our kids to save their own money for these gifts, so I will probably give them a small amount of spending money to shop with.

Same here, but we don't give them money to shop with. Some years I'd take the boys to the mall and we'd buy a gift for DH from them. Sometimes DH would take them and they'd buy one for me. Never anything consistent. One year when our older son was around 12 he bought me some peach lotion, and while I like flavored lotions, peach is not one I like. I returned it and he never bought me another Xmas gift. That's okay...I don't need gifts to feel whole or loved.
I was surprised to hear DS18 tell me today that he bought us a tapestry for our sunroom, as a housewarming gift. He must have liked the finals-week care package I sent him, LOL!
Yes - this year Seth used money I gave him to buy gifts at his school's Holiday Boutique. He also made gifts at our Temple's Hannukah fair. I don't care if it's my money or his at this age (8 1/2), it's the idea. And as I posted below - Leah has saved allowance money regularly for a few years to get holiday and birthday gifts for DH and me and her bro.
Yes, for parents and siblings. We gave/give them the money for this until they were working outside the home.
I have been impressed with how well they keep up with the birthdays now that two are living out of the house. No reminders and they actually put thought into their choices!!
OTOH Ive yet to have either send GM a birthday or Xmas card and perhaps I need to 'mention' this.
We too have always given the kids the money for gifts they need to buy for family. If they want to buy for friends, I will help them a little, but mostly they use their own money.
When the boys were little, I would give them some cash so they could go to the "Santa Store" they had at the school to buy presents for me and their dad.
