Before my dd was a teen, I made her eat three vegetables and two fruits everyday of her choosing.

I don't have any problems getting my son to eat vegetables or whole grains.

Hi Stacy....I saw your post last week on lunch questions in which I noticed that you are able to pack healthy lunches for your son. I replied but I'm not sure if I posted in the right place so I'm glad to find you here on board again this morning. I have two teens that I pack lunches for and I cannot get past the sandwiches made up of deli meats, etc. They only use paper bags so the lunches I make cannot be too perishable...any thoughts/ideas/suggestions/direction you may have would be much appreciated for new lunches for them. Thanks very much.

As for the veggies, my kids do okay with that one. They each have an apple a day too. If they haven't managed to eat "something healthy" during the day

It is tough to make them eat veggies and fruits, however, you can withhold cookies etc and talk about a balanced diet.Snacks of cookies and treats are fine in moderation and balance. That is what we teach our kids and it seems to help.As for whole grains,do you mean bread or what? If whole grains is the only choice in your house, she will eat them.We have both whole grain bread and regular white bread, and our kids usually eat both.Talk to her about the importance of eating healthy and having a balanced diet.Maybe you could go on the internet together and search some places to show her why she should healthy foods. She might have an eye opener about weight, acne etc etc.

have a beautiful day,

DD16 eats virtually no veggies and very little fruits.

My DD (`18) doesn't like veggies (except for maybe in salad) but she does like fruit.

Older ds was always a good eater but younger one was always picky (and it's the older one that ended up with the ED - go figure).

Mine ate better as little ones than teens as well. My oldest once requested an orange in lieu of birthday cake at a party as a preschooler-LOL. As a teen, he lived on pop tarts and ramen

They seem to be coming back around now that they are late teens/young adults.

Also, I put applesauce on the table A LOT. DS15 will eat that and it's not like Im doing extra cooking. Ditto for canned fruit.

It's better than nothing

My 22 yr olds Thanksgiving requests? Caesar salad with crab meat and the green bean w/feta & bacon dish I make.
