Sounds like you've got all the bases covered to me! DD16 had only been on group dates - just a bunch of kids hanging out and having fun together until the last 2 weeks. She started dating a very nice young man who is her age. One thing that really impressed me was he insisted on meeting me, gave me his cell phone number, walked her to the car and opened her door. DH almost fainted! He couldn't believe how nice, polite and responsible this young man was. Now, I know sometimes good manners are sometimes no indication of good character, but it definitely made a good impression! He has since been to our house several times and is just as sweet and polite as he was to begin with. Good Luck with the dating! It's really scary to send our babies out into the dating world and worry about them being hurt.

I'm sure your DS will make a good impression on his date and her parents. I hope he has a wonderful time!

It all sounds great Sue :) I wish that my DS's dating started out this way!! I'm sure they'll have lots of fun and hope for DS that she really is great. My DS's dissapointment from some "mean" girls kind of led him to the "wrong" girl and then we as parents made mistake after mistake :( You're doing great MOM :)

Sounds like your ds is well prepared for his first date. Justin has only really had one 'girlfriend' and they were only 14 and 15 so of course they couldn't really go anywhere - just saw each other at band practice, school, etc. and he invited her to youth group a few times. He's 17 and a senior now and - while I hope he doesn't end up in an 'attached at the hip' relationship - I hope that he has a good year and can go out and get to know some girls this year. Good luck to your ds and we'll be anxious to hear how it went!

I was so proud to see him shaking the dad's hand, looking confident as he opened and closed doors for the date, etc.
