First day back to school today
| Thu, 08-17-2006 - 9:39am |
I remember so clearly having tears in my eyes when my "baby" started kindergarten and now today she started high school! (But no tears, LOL!) She looked so grown up today (and she was even wearing some nice looking clothes)! I will be thinking of her today and I hope all goes well. After almost failing 8th grade last year, she has a chance for a new start this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! How's school going for the rest of you?

Well, considering this was her first day at a new school, I think things went rather well. She got lost, but wasn't afraid to ask for directions; she was teased, but was able to laugh with the person doing the teasing; she is staying away from the kids whom "mom doesn't like"; she came home and got her homework done; and she recognized that she needed to go to bed earlier tonight because she was tired. I also found out that the food "was good" and that her homeroom teacher is the same person who taught her PE in elementary school (and he remembered her!). We actually had a pleasant conversation about her first day - no snottiness or anything!! All in all, I am very proud of her!
Thanks for responding, and please let us know how it goes for Justin when he starts next Tuesday.

school starts 9/5, here and i know my dd is dreading it... she has a new boyfriend as of two weeks ago and he's going to a different school
I remember when my oldest dd started kindergarten - standing thier in awe at how tiny she was. Now, we're coming up on her freshman year in college, and there will most definitely be tears.
My 16dd begins her senior year next Thursday! I hope she does well, as school has always been a struggle for her. It will be different this year also because she will be the only kid home in the house since my 18dd is leaving for school in October.
I hope your dd does well this year! After switching my 16dd to a new school in the middle of her sophomore year, we also viewed it as a fresh start and emotionally it was. Acadmically, she still struggled, but without the emotional crap she had a better attitude about it at least! Keeping my finger crossed also.
