Congrats on your DD's good grades! That's really an accomplishments, given how many hours she devotes to her dancing.
I'm wondering why her friends told her what that other girl said! I think they could have left out the "brutally ugly" quote. What are kids thinking?!

Just some friendly advice....
Be careful what she selects for grade 12. I take it she is not planning to take science or business in university. So, she should not take science & math courses unless she is confident she can get very high marks. They can unnecessarily pull her average down.
I would suggest she not take any science courses and that she concentrate of getting high marks in her other courses. Her dance and religion could be her "pull up average" courses. The universities care onlyabout marks in our country. They take the required courses and fill up the required 6 grade 12 with the highest remaining pre-university/ college courses. The kid applying for arts does not get any brownie points for taking grade 11 or grade 12 science courses. And a difference of 5% in the average can mean a difference of $4000 to $5000 in money.
So, be careful.
I wish someone would have told Kelsie's Guidance Counselor some of this before planning her 12th grade courses. She is not strong in math or science and was so glad to know that she had all that was required for her regents diploma. Then the counselor told her that it looks better if you have a math or science as an elective in sr. yr. So he talked her into taking Astronomy and Oceanography. Bad move, she should have taken something totally unrelated like food prep or anything. Sure it looks good to have the science, but not when you get a 58 for the second marking period and pass with a 67 for the course. Needless to say, I told her it was fine to drop the Oceanography and take another course.
What the heck was he thinking to tell her that, knowing that she is weak in science? And she is planning to go to community college for 2 yrs and hopefully she will know what she wants to do after that. Yikes, what a mess that was!
You are welcome. All you have to do is check the required courses for the programs she is interested in. I would also be careful about the "minimum averages" listed.
Many of these Guidance Counselors are clueless. They have no idea. If a kid is not a math or science kid, it makes so sense to have the kid to take a grade 12 course!
I'll 2nd that - dd was going to drop her Honors English class this

As to the catty remarks...I tell my girls it's very simple...if someone
